Neurofeedback is a very precise and somewhat complex neuroscience, but in practical terms it can be summarised as the ability to train/re-educate the brain in a non-invasive, rigorous and monitored way.
After confirmation, in consultation, that neurofeedback is appropriate for the situation under analysis, an Electroencephalogram (EEG) is performed first, a simple and painless examination, which serves to identify the waves that demonstrate brain function (delta, theta, alpha and beta waves). Using a simple comparison, the EEG is to brain function what the ECG (electrocardiogram) is to heart function.
The EEG is performed under protocol with a team of Accredited Neurophysiologists from MediBrain, which adds credibility, rigour and quality to the service we offer.
Then, this baseline EEG is rigorously analysed by the neurotherapist, who identifies the waves whose functioning is inadequate and which, therefore, are causing the disturbance that led to seeking help.
In this way, a session plan is drawn up specifically tailored to each person. During these sessions, a huge variety of activities, interactive games and tests are used to promote the elimination of inadequate waves and condition the brain to function correctly. Gradually, the harmful electrical activity is extinguished (over the course of the sessions) and gives way to correct brain function.
During these games, stimuli and tests, brain function is monitored by attaching sensors to the scalp and viewing brain function waves in real time.
The specific programme, the frequency of neurofeedback sessions and the duration of treatment are therefore always a function of the assessment made between the patients and the neurotherapist Psychologist.
Most frequent indications with proven effectiveness of neurofeedback:

• Autism Spectrum Disorders
• Anxiety and Panic Disorders
• Depressive Disorders
• Sleep Disorders/Insomnia
• Personality Disorders
• Obsessive Thoughts
• Impulsivity / Frustration Intolerance
• Oppositional Defiant Disorder / Behavioural Inflexibility and Resistance
• Language Disorders
• Dyslexia and Reading Disorders
• Memory Disorders
• Social Performance
• Cognitive Rehabilitation
• Post-Stroke Rehabilitation
• Eating Disorder and Compulsion
• Sport and Intellectual Performance Development
• Post-TBI Rehabilitation / traumatic brain injury
• Mood Disorders
• Some types of Epilepsy
