Acupuncture is an ancient technique belonging to Traditional Chinese Medicine – TCM.
It is one of the oldest medical systems in the world and is currently experiencing rapid growth. TCM consists of several branches and treatment modalities, including:
• Acupuncture
• Chinese Herbal Medicine
• Chinese Dietotherapy
• Tui Na Massage
• Qigong
As the most popular branch of TCM, Acupuncture is a technique that involves inserting very fine needles into strategic points on the body. Through the nerve impulses generated by the treatment, the body initiates a series of chemical reactions that promote proper body function. Scientific studies have revealed benefits in terms of circulation, endorphin production (analgesic mechanisms) and hormonal regulation, among others.
Currently, in Portugal, Acupuncture is already regulated.
Being universally famous for pain treatment, Acupuncture has very extensive areas of action, going far beyond what the general public is aware of.
