Anaesthesiology is a medical speciality dedicated to maintaining the balance of the body affected by surgical stress, supported by appropriate monitoring and the use of specific drugs in the perioperative context, as well as in the control of acute and chronic pain.
The perioperative period comprises three phases:
1st – Preoperative: preoperative assessment, in which the risk of complications is evaluated according to the patient's state of health.
2nd – Intraoperative: the intervention itself, performed in the operating room of the surgical block.
3rd – Postoperative: covers the period between leaving the operating room and the patient's return to daily activities. At this stage, many complications can occur, so health surveillance should be maintained according to the level of risk assessed in the 1st phase.
All anaesthesiologists working at the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (UCA) at Beloura Clinic are certified by the most important national, European and American institutions in medical emergency and advanced life support.
